"Botox"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

I attended the Adnexal clinic on Monday 25th April for my usual Botox injections. I had to wait an hour to be seen by the nurse. I told them that I couldn't sit or wait much longer as I had recently had back surgery , also I had applied EMLA cream , the effects of which wear off after a while. I then waited another 45mins to see a doctor by which time my back was very painful. I usually see the same doctor, but I saw a different doctor this time. This doctor's manner to me was condescending, and when I looked into a mirror after I left the clinic I saw that there was a lot of bruising under my left eye. By the time I got home I had a black eye, I look as if I've been punched. I accept that there can sometimes be some bruising, but I have never had bruising like this , and I've been having injections for over 10 years, firstly at Southend Hospital and at Moorfields for the last couple of years. I have taken photos of my eye as proof. I don't know if they injected the wrong place or wasn't careful enough but I should not come away with a black eye.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. It does sound like you were not given the consideration you should have received and certainly there is no excuse for staff not communicating with patients in a professional and respectful manner and please accept my apologies for this. I understand that adnexal procedures can sometimes result in extensive bruising, and we would be very happy to look into the specific circumstances surrounding your visit and outcome. If you would like this, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on pals@moorfields.nhs.uk or telephone on 020 7566 2325, who will be able to address any concerns you have.
