"Husband's vascular operation for blocked arteries."

About: Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

My husband was admitted on the 4th April 2016 for an operation to by-pass blocked arteries which were making it difficult for him to walk without experiencing severe pain.

From his arrival in Same Day Admissions to reaching HDU, he (and I), were greeted by all staff in a most friendly and reassuring manner.

That night I left the hospital, relieved that the operation was over and confident that he was getting wonderful care and attention in HDU.

After a few days he moved onto Docking Ward and , again, he was looked after wonderfully.

I was impressed with the high standard of food, both for the patients and in the restaurant for visitors.

We had seriously considered "going private" at one point but, are glad we didn't as don't believe he would have had any better care than he did.

We are especially grateful to the Consultant who has looked after my husband so professionally since his first appointment at the Queen Elizabeth in Kings Lynn.

My husband is now recovering well at home so a big thank you to all staff concerned.

Dear Family Member

We hope your husband is making a good recovery after his operation. As you had experience of several services in the hospital, it is reassuring to know that the care provided was good and you felt reassured. Your comments about the food will be especially welcome to my colleagues who have worked hard to improve standards and offer more choice to patients.

Kind regards

Janice Bradfield
