My son’s care co-ordinator referred my husband and I to the family clinic following our son’s diagnosis of bipolar. Due to his illness we were having a terrible time, we were experiencing high levels of distress and struggling to cope. Our beautiful boy had been the last person we would have expected to become mentally ill and when we met Siobhan and her team we were barely coping. We met them regularly over the six months and will be eternally grateful for what they did for us; they were kind, gently challenging, compassionate and so skilled. I was very dubious (had to force my husband! ! ) about whether it would help but was totally desperate. They have been instrumental in increasing my ability to cope which I believe has directly helped my son.
My son’s diagnosis was affecting my mental health and they have helped me to see how resilient I was and how I was able to cope. They have given me back my life and I know this sounds dramatic but this is truly how it feels.
I truly hope South West London St George’s know what a wonderful bunch of psychologists they have.
Please do pass on our thoughts.
With appreciation.
