"Battle for mammogram results"

About: Barnet Hospital

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and had subsequent treatment in Barnet Hospital. As part of my treatment I had to receive mammograms annually for five years. My mammogram for this year is supposed to be the third. However, the way the hospital has dealt with me has been despicable, with me having to battle to receive a mammogram. I received no letters inviting for the annual mammogram and had to visit the hospital in person to be told I'm "not in the system". This is very worrying for someone who has been receiving treatment from Barnet Hospital since 2013 and shows a great lack of care. After a discussion with breast cancer receptionist they told me to phone, and got back to say the mammogram was on the 1st April (even though it should have been in February). I went to the mammogram and was told results would be sent to my GP in 10 days. After 2 weeks I went to the GP and surprise surprise, the results were not there. I went on to call Barnet Hospital breast clinic and the call and message left went ignored. I went to the breast clinic in person to ask for my results and was told they cannot find any information at all about the mammogram. Upon demanding an explanation, a breast clinic nurse said to me, "are you calling me a liar?" Why would a breast cancer survivor be a liar when simply asking for mammogram results? I then said to them I would go to radiography department and the breast clinic nurse said to me sarcastically "good luck". The radiography department gave me a phone number to chase up the issue for Thursday. This has been a completely unacceptable treatment of someone who has survived breast cancer. Barnet Hospital in no way eased my problems and spoke to me in a rude manner. It is disgusting that someone who has gone through breast cancer be treated like this for simply wanting mammogram results. I would not recommended this hospital to anyone. We are also looking to change hospitals for further treatment as the way you are treated at Barnet Hospital is horrendous.

Thank you for your review, we're really sorry to hear you're unhappy. We have passed your feedback on to our breast screening service and would like to look into this further. Please could you email details to rf.communications@nhs.net? Many thanks.
