About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

Having broken a femur in a fall on 20th March, I was taken to the RSCH by paramedics, admitted to Bramshott Ward and operated on for a full hip replacement on the 22nd. During recovery, I suffered a bowel blockage which necessitated another operation. This was on the 30th. After 3 days in the Intensive Care Unit I was moved to Frensham Ward where I remained until discharge on 12th April. The respective operations were carried out by orthopaedic and surgical teams.

All aspects of my treatment were very good and at every stage I was kept informed about what was happening and why. Surgery, monitoring of my condition, action taken as a consequence of that monitoring, physio, care in the ICU and other nursing were all excellent. The friendliness, helpfulness, professionalism and compassion of all staff looking after me were outstanding. Finally, I am very grateful to the paramedics who eased my initial pain and brought me to the hospital. In addition to diagnosing the breakage and treating me medically, they were reassuring and caring - a great team.

Thanks to all.
