"We don't know how to help"

About: NHS Fife

(as a friend),

My friend experienced a nonchalant response to their depression when being handled by the practice over time. Getting worse and worse their meds were just upped and upped, no other form of care or option given. Even when suicidal all they did was up the meds some more rather than taking the time to correctly assess and manage my friend's condition. I just hope this story has a happy ending as many of their friends and I all have no idea how to help now things have got so bad.

Dear Patty1983

Thank you for sharing a very personal account of your friend's situation and the impact it is having on you and others. It sounds like she is really struggling and that you feel helpless in your ability to help. Without more of the detail, it is difficult to know how best to help. Could we have a chat about it to see if I can suggest anything that might help your friend or might support you during this difficult time?

My contact number is 01592 648069.

Kind Regards

Louise Ewing
