Having been diagnosed with bicuspic artic valve and an enlarged aorta, I was admitted to St Barts for surgery. Six weeks ealier, I met with the surgeon Mr Sheikh, we discussed the risks and the options and I was happy with his approach whilst I had also carried out research on my condition.
I was admitted to St Barts in mid March and went into theatre the following day. Surgery lasted 8 hours and I was asleep for a further four days due to the anaesthetic.
I would like to thank Mr Sheikh and all the staff who attended to me and made my recovery comfortable and attended to all my needs.
