"Hospital Staff Smoking next to School"

About: Ipswich Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

I have children who attend Copleston High School. My son often plays on the field and is subjected to second hand smoke of hospital staff, standing beside the field fence (on the public footpath, between the hospital and school) I have also walked past this group of people, who seem to be there constantly. It is not pleasant, or healthy. Surely the Heath Road site is large enough to provide them somewhere to smoke, out of the way, and not beside a school on a public foot\cycle path?

Thank you for your comments; I apologise that this has been your son’s experience and can understand your frustrations. We do have a number of smoking shelters situated across our site which we actively encourage both staff and visitors to use if they do need to smoke. We will remind all concerned of the availability and location of these shelters.
