"A truly awful experience in the General's..."

About: Leicester General Hospital

The care I received while giving birth to my baby was excellent. The aftercare was atrocious and left me feeling depressed and shocked for some time. The general lack of empathy and respect for my cultural beliefs was astounding. In the 21 Century I was made to feel like a radical feminist for wanting my partner present and no provision was provided for those women who want their partner to stay with them. The hospital shouldn't only cater for those those cultures and religions who do not wish for men to be present. Moreover, there were male members of staff anyway, making the rules somewhat farcical. An awful 5 days spent in a place that made me feel lower than I thought possible. 7 months on and I still feel upset and resentful about the experience I had.

Dear reviewer, thank you for taking the time to leave a review of the maternity unit at Leicester General Hospital.

Whilst appreciating that you were happy with the level of care given during labour and childbirth we are most concerned with your comments with regards to the care afterwards, during your time in hospital.

In order that these can be full investigated please contact Ward Manager, Marisa Asbury - marisa.asbury@uhl-tr.nhs.uk with your name, address, contact number and hospital number and they will be in touch with you.

Best wishes, Communications Team, Leicester's Hospitals.
