I went to Rotherham New Admissions Unit to have a bursa fitted to my hip. I had had a hip operation a while ago and i have been having a lot of discomfort. I was told to arrive at 7.00am. This was at the beginning of february, just after the unit had been opened, so I expected the care to be really excellent, but, in my opinion the care I received was terrible.
I sat along with many other patients in this waiting area until 2.00pm with no food or drink and in a very uncomfortable position. AT least if I had been taken onto a ward to wait I could have slept or lied down to rest my hip. This was totally not acceptable and many patients were kept waiting. I got onto a ward at 2.00pm, had my operation soon afterwards. The care on the wad was good. Is this new admissions centre going to make things better for the patient or worse?
