"Excellent and compassionate care"

About: Heartlands Hospital

My father was admitted from Ambulatory Care to Ward 22 and transferred to Ward 2 some days later.

In total he was treated by 5 dfferent medical teams.

His care was clinically excellent and a life threatening condiiton identified early.

As importantly, he was treated with kindness, patience and understanding.

His discharge was also very well managed and I am grateful to all staff and especially Ward 2 drs & nurses for ensuring that he was home in time to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary with many family and freinds who had traveled far and wide.

Dear Anna Regan

thank you so much for your kind comments regarding your father's recent treatment at Heartlands Hospital; firstly in Ambulatory Care, then his admission to Ward 22 and subsequent transfer to Ward 2 some days later.

I am so pleased to learn that you feel your father received excellent care, was treated with compassion, and also that you observed clinical excellence from the various medical teams involved in managing his care throughout his patient journey. It must have been a very worrying time to find that he had a potentially life threatening condition, but reassuring to know that the doctors and nurses looking after him identified this early enabling him to receive the right treatment and recover.

I will ensure that your post and your thanks are highlighted to all of the clinical areas involved in his care, To Ambulatory Care Senior Sister Grainne Clarke, Matron Hilary Clemson, Ward 22 Senior Sister Alison Davies and Matron Alison Stewart but particularly to Ward 2 Senior Sister Nicky Rooker, Matron Beverley Baker and Clinical Director for Gastroenterolgy Dr Marcus Mottershead who will all be thrilled to read your lovely feedback, and delighted to share it with all of their respective teams. All of our staff across the trust work extremely hard to provide a positive patient experience often in very difficult circumstances.

It is truly lovely to read that you father's discharge home was well managed and organised and especially wonderful to read that he made it home in time to celebrate an amazing 50 years of marriage with his family and friends! I do hope you all had a wonderful time. My congratulations to both of your parents on reaching their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

With kindest regards

Marie Helebert
