"Disgusted"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital

In January, the exact day is now be forgotten by myself due to that fact I am so Ill and tired, after a entire day in your emergency department from 9am til approximately 11pm, it was diagnosed that the approximately 20 episodes of vomiting that I had experienced the previous night and extreme pain was down to a hernia that was in danger of twisting. I discussed with the Doctor that night whether I needed to see anyone in out patients and it was decided that No I did not and in fact should just be booked in for a repair. I explained I already had a gastric appointment and was told I did not need to go.

I was sent home in a Taxi, I am already disabled I had previously been told that transport would be arranged, remember I am in pain from my hernia and I am also disabled, I had to wait in the lobby for a cab that would take a person with no money on them, remember again I came strait from home in a ambulance in my night clothes, long story short, I ended up paying £50 to get home. after being thrown out of emergency by a nursing assistant who thought because I was upright I was well again and seemed to have great influence over that decision to send me home in such a appalling way...

Now I get a letter for a appointment and as directed I ignore the letter, time passes, my life right now by the way is my bed, trying to cook for my friend who has CPOD and being told by my GP I cant do that and I will have to take it easy and have to pay for help. I cant afford help. what I want is this so called in your emergency Doctors words "urgent" operation done, I have seen my GP, it is painful to travel in a car so seeing my GP was tough, they agreed I was in too much pain my life is to limited, they sent a letter pointing this out and their concerns.

What have I received in this month of April! A letter from yourself dated 04, april, 2016 telling me I am on a waiting list to see a Doctor in outpatients and that there will be a long wait, A doctor I was told I would not have to see and may I remind you it is now April this cannot go on I have been patient waiting I think not one complaint and for a person popping Ibruprofen at it full recommended, a person who cant go out as it causes to much pain, cannot enjoy any aspect of life, not go to see my friends, in pain feeling tired and told by my GP if I start vomiting again Dial 999, I am scared I do not wish to be treated like this and this is what can only be described as appalling treatment and a comedy of errors in communication. and it is not the first time I have been treated so badly By your trust.

Dear Carol

I am really sorry that you have had such poor experiences with A&E and the poor communications about your appointments and treatment, which has had such a negative impact on your quality of life. Please contact the Patient Liaison Advocacy Service (PALS) on 01273 664683 or 664973 or email on pals@bsuh.nhs.uk, for help with this issue.

Best wishes

Caroline Davies
