"Day Surgery."

About: Southmead Hospital

From my initial consultation following an ultra sound scan which diagnosed gall bladder problems, to the actual day of operation, I cannot praise the hospital enough.

All staff including the receptionist, nurses, anaesthetists and surgeons made me feel happy and cared for and relieved any initial worries I had. Both surgeons and anaesthetists popped into my room at the start to discuss procedures and potential problems that could possibly occur, and after the operation the surgeons visited me again to check all was ok. The nurse assigned to me was friendly and caring and ensured I was well looked after throughout my short stay. Although I was a day patient, there was no pressure to leave before I felt ready and when my husband came to collect me he was able to park outside the Brunel building with no parking cost.

I found the single room I was assigned clean, warm and comfortable. The nurse's station was nearby so I never felt isolated but could close the door for privacy and quiet if I wanted.

On leaving the hospital I felt I had had a very positive experience and was well informed about my recovery.

My sincere thanks to all the team involved in my care.

Dear Ms Lee - I was pleased to learn of your very positive experience of Southmead, and that you were very delighted with all aspects of your clinical care and your general treatment in respect of your gall bladder day surgery.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post details of your experience. Your comments have been shared with the departments concerned. I hope that you soon make a complete recovery.

Kind Regards - Steve Sykes
