After a gardening 'incident' I had managed to deposit some material in my left eye. Following a painful and sleepless night I called my GP's surgery first thing the next morning (Monday) and was immediately advised to contact the Eye Hospital at Bournemouth General directly as they would only refer me there. I got through after 3 attempts and described my symptoms and a was advised that I would be called by a triage nurse within the hour. About 10 minutes later I was called and offered an appointment with the hour, which I duly attended. There were quite a number of people waiting, but I was greeted cheerfully and told that wait should not be long. I was seen by a triage nurse within 20 minutes and then went on to have around 40 minutes of treatment about 15 minutes later. One week later my eye is well on the mend and I felt compelled to write to express gratitude for the excellent service provided - which in all honesty exceeded my expectations - i.e. I was back to work well before midday. Thank you very much the Eye Unit at Bournemouth Hospital.
"Speedy and effective visit to the emergency eye..."
