"Disgusted with out patients one"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I am totally disgusted in my recent visit to Out Patients One.

The board states a 15 minute wait, one and a half hours later still waiting to see the doctor. I stressed how much pain I was in, in my right ankle, right knee and my hip. I also have pain in my hands, wrists, left shoulder, left knee and foot. Their comments were well you do not look in pain. I am sorry, is there a special look you should have when in pain. I have suffered with arthritis for more than forty years. I have had to suffer in silence and put on a brave face otherwise I would be very depressed . The doctor also said I am not using a walking aid so again I am not in pain. I replied I do use a walking stick if I have to walk far and on uneven ground. In this instance my husband dropped me right outside the door at Out Patients One, so I had very little walking to do.

Then I come to the copy of the letter to my doctor that I received. The first line is completely wrong it states I had the right knee replacement 2 Months ago, it was in fact 2 years ago. This letter also states I have mild pain over my right hip and buttock, in no way is it mild, more like constant serve pain despite all the pain killers I am taking, which I was never even asked about.

I was sent to X-ray on my right hip, I was in great pain, I was asked if my hip had locked, I said no, it was chronic pain.

The last paragraph of the letter states I had a lengthy talk with the doctor and I have not requested any further intervention. This was again not true on both counts. There was no lengthy chat or any offer of help, the only option was to be discharged. I must also mention that my own doctor prior to this appointment wrote a letter saying how much pain I was in.
