"Acdf c3-c4 operation Wessex Neurological..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

I Stayed in the Spinal Surgical Ward Bay D for a Emergency

ACDF operation to stop paralysis being rushed in on a sunday, April 2016 .

The nursing staff are utterly amazing, especially the HCA who came down with me to the operating theatre for my GA which i was petrified about.

The HCA said they had never seen anyone shake as i was, so it was lovely to have their support as my husband was still at home.

The standard of care i received after my operation was amazing.

Nothing was too much for the staff that looked after me.

My Hca really made my stay in there a good one, they helped me get through the operation and recovery and made for a much better experience than i could expect, i can not give them enough praise.

The wards were clean as was the shower rooms and toilets, and i never had to wait to use one.

There wasnt as much noise in there as i have experienced at my local hospital.

I think the staff are more aware of being quiet for the patients.

Even the staff who brought around meals and drinks were polite and very quiet

I normally go private for operations but it was just as good as a Bupa hospital.

The food was really nice which i was nicely surprised at and the portion size is just right.

The chicken dinner, and chicken curry was lovely as was the custard and chocolate pudding.

They also cater for Gluten free too.

I couldn't of asked for better care from the nurses who were my main care giver.

The visiting times i felt were just right also.

And the hospital in general offers so much as in costa, a clothes shop, subway, m and s express, and whsmiths.

Im very happy that my care is now at this hospital and not my local hospital.

Thank you so much for making me feel like a person and not just another patient.
