I visited Birmingham Midland Eye Centre on 15th April 2016 to follow up on how I was getting along with the new prisms incorporated into my new glasses (for double vision in my left eye).
I told them that I have since had two pairs and through none of them did I have clear vision in my right eye. I actually got a refund on the first pair from the first opticians and tried having my eyes re-tested and a new pair issued at a second opticians and my vision was still blurred on the second pair (again in my right eye).
I also mentioned that the optometrist I seen at the opticians noticed there was a slight black spot showing up in an x-ray they taken on the back of my right eye but I let them know I had an appointment at the eye hospital and they said they should be able to let you know what it was.
I mentioned this to the person I saw at the eye-hospital and they said without knowing what it was they was unable to do anything and they don't do those tests there! (which I found surprising being an eye hospital!).
They then tested the latest pair of glasses with the prescription I was issued and said they appear to be done correctly to the prescription issued and said (after doing a few tests) that it must be the lens in the right eye on the new pair of glasses which needs re-testing and that I would have to book another appointment with them if I wanted to have the eye tested!! ...I was very surprised that this could not have been done when I was there as it takes me around 2 hours (using public transport) to visit them and I would need to book even more time off work!
They then booked an appointment for 4 weeks time to have my eyes tested! ...When I asked whether it was the same test they do at opticians they said it was so I asked whether I should just go to opticians again to have test re-taken rather than waiting so long and they said it was up to me!
I am very disappointed this could not have been taken care off when I was there and that I now have to go back to my opticians to let them know I need my eyes re-tested yet again to get the lens changed! ...hopefully I wont have to pay any additional than the £330+ I have already paid for the latest pair!
"Poor service on recent visit"
