"Kingston ward"

My relative was admitted to Kingston Ward following a stroke, Doctors said there was nothing they could do and discussed End of Life care including a DNR. I understood, and the form actually states, that DNR meant that in the event of cardiac or respiratory arrest she would not be resuscitated. We did not realise it also meant withdrawing all fluids and any other than absolute basic care. My relative was awake and alert a lot of the time and it was a sad and harrowing experience to see how she was treated. Communication is very poor, my request to have her transferred to a hospice was not acted on. My relative was a single lady in her 80's and was put in a mixed sex ward and afforded no dignity or respect in her final days, she passed away one week later.
