"Attended with my 9 year old daughter for an..."

About: Cirencester Hospital

I attended the MIU last night (with careful consideration after a missed broken bone on a previous visit)

We arrived at 7pm and seated in a busy waiting room. For all my comments I have to say the young receptionist was faultless; effortlessly comforting and helpful... not to mention apologetic. However, our experience left me pretty unhappy.

We were seen by a triage nurse after about an hour (we were told at this point there were 4 people in front of us and that there were a few nurses on... and returned back to the waiting room, this time my daughter chose to sit in the children's waiting room which looked like it had't seen a mop in some time.

We waited another hour.. by this time 3 people had left out of sheer frustration for the wait. We were advised it would be another 2 hours before we were seen (and that there were still 4 people in front of us) ,

I simply could not keep my daughter out until 11pm.

I appreciate this is a Minor injuries unit, but I would have assumed that people are seen , referred or dealt with much quicker. I am struggling to see what the purpose of the unit is, when there is every chance they would have advised an X-Ray of which was closed and to return tomorrow. 4 hours wasted and a very tired child.

Whats more, it only creates frustration when people are upset for the wait and nurses are stood at the desk chatting and moving cars "before it gets dark"

A very upset mum. I am afraid this is the last time I will use this service. I will do what I should have done to begin with and go straight to Swindon.
