My son had day surgery today in F1 Children's ward. The staff were excellent at every stage. We arrived at 6.50am and were taken straight to a bed, pre-op checks were done. The nurse made both myself and my son at ease. They set the TV up for my son to watch while waiting for the Dr. The playroom support worker was brilliant! They did all they could to take my son's mind off what was happening, with toys, colouring, TV and showed him a DVD explaining what was going to happen. After his operation, the ward nurse took great care of him. They were careful to ensure they did regular checks of blood pressure etc and always asking how he felt and how i thought he was. They were also quick to respond to any of our concerns and seek help where needed. I can't commend them enough!
