My experience at the Gwent has been really positive. The staff are lovely, from the receptionists to the anesthetists to the surgeons to the nurses - almost everyone I had contact with dealt with me with kindness and respect, and went out of their way to help. It makes a massive difference to be greeted with a smile, it gives you the feeling someone is dealing with you personally. There was also a nice atmosphere on the ward, thanks to the nurses who seem to make a strong team - despite being under staffed when I was there. There was confusion with my appointments which caused some inconvenience, but given the choice I would go to the Gwent every time. I live in London, and had a number of follow up appointments at my local hospital, where they were surprised at the procedure I had been offered, and was told if I had the accident locally, the injury would have been left to heal as it was, although this would have caused me physical problems - pain and restricted movement. In the Gwent the consultant offered me a choice of three procedures, and honestly explained the implications of each one. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff at the Gwent and the care they give.
