"The caring of most staff They ..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The caring of most staff

They have no time to draw breath they are working at 100 miles an hour

They always seem to be short staffed or the sheer volume of work just seems to overtake them

What could be improved

Waiting for pain relief is unacceptable

Because of overworked Nurses and Drs

If there could be a system where on assessment ward pain relief could be given instead of being told over and over again a Dr has to be seen

Could bad news be given in private Not just behind curtains on the main ward where the rest of the patients can here what is going on

I understand that acute patients need more input but recovering patients need support too and this is where the system fails as there is not enough staff to help us Lack of communication between departments of the hospital seem to be paramount

Again the ward staff are always trying to find out when patients are going for scans etc.

Anything else?

The overflow ward

I personally object strongly to being moved to another ward If Iam well enough to be moved from the ward am I not well enough to go home

The feelings are one of horror

The feeling is one of What have I done to deserve this

Just because I can get myself to the toilet and have a shower myself I am still a patient with needs and worries and pain and you loose the feeling of security
