"My daughters experience with Mental Health Services"

About: Psychiatrist High Patrick street Hamilton

(as a carer),

My daughter was diagnosed with depression while at high school and then bipolar disorder in her late teens. She received support from Education Psychology and then the Adult Psychiatrist. Her condition has fluctuated and she has seen several psychiatrists.

The first Doctor said he would put her on medication to get her through University and then look at a support programme to get her off it. This has never happened. She has tried to gain support to access appropriate therapy (CBT) doesn't work for her.

She has graduated and works, but because she holds down a full time job she cant access support from CPN or crisis team so we are doing it all on our own but we need help.

The last doctor who saw her agreed to help reduce the meds and make a referral for psychotherapy but she's missed appointments because she works in Edinburgh. Now she's kicked out the system and no therapy (she's been waiting since 16years old for this) now its 3 months before a psychiatrist can see her & no other support available because she's not on benefits and is managing to work.

Educational psychology at school were fantastic but since leaving school there has been no consistent care for her and I'm surprised that she's still alive. Please can you help.
