"Breast Clinic"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

I want to thank all of the staff I met during my recent visit to the breast clinic at Wansbeck. I also work for the Trust which may make you think I am biased but I can assure you I am not. If anything it makes me more critical as I am well aware of the exacting standards expected of my colleagues and I even during times of severe pressure.

I had lived in terror for nearly 3 weeks having discovered a breast lump, but the appointment my GP said would arrive within 2 weeks of my consultation with them did just that. I was seen 2 weeks to the day from seeing my GP, and that 2 weeks included Easter. The clinic is very efficient and every member of staff I met was excellent, from the receptionist, the radiographers, nurse and doctor. The service is streamlined - mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy and examination all in under 3 hours. Very impressive. And being told my lump was nothing sinister was the icing on the cake

Dear Madam,

So sorry to hear about the lump in your breast – I can only imagine what a frightening time it must been for you. In amongst all of this it’s really kind of you to find the time to share your experience on NHS Choices.

Our staff will be delighted to read your feedback.

As a staff member I am sure you can appreciate how much it will mean to them as a team. To have this ringing endorsement from an NHS colleague will make it doubly special.

I am pleased that all the staff involved in your care were able to do the necessary diagnostic tests within 3 hours. We understand how important it is to ease concerns by carrying out tests and delivering results to patients as quickly as possible.

It’s wonderful news that your lump was found to be benign.

I will be sure to pass this on to the folk that matter.

Take good care of yourself and please don’t hesitate to come back to us if there is anything concerning you in the future,

Annie
