"A & E department at its best."

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

My 88yr old mom was taken to A & E with a suspected broken hip. The staff (even though there was a junior doctors strike on) were very attentive to my mother and quickly arranged the X-rays which confirmed a broken hip. The doctors ( yes we had 3 doctors) explained clearly and precisely what was the next course of treatment. A number of nurses including the staff sister kept popping into the cubicle to unsure my mother was ok, they also kept us updated regarding the time surgery would be taking place. This was very reassuring for both my mother and myself.

The operation was scheduled for the afternoon & she was moved to a female surgical ward 45/60mins prior to the operation. An orthopaedic doctor & anesthist visited my mother prior to the operation and explained the procedure.

The surgeon conducting the operation introduced themselves and reassured my mother that it was a straight forward operation and that she would be back on her feet within the next 24/36 hrs.

The surgery was performed at the scheduled time and was very successful.

My mother is now sitting up in bed eat a light evening meal.

Thank you Milton Keynes for being so efficient with your dealing with my mom
