"Unnecessary anxiety whilst waiting for test..."

I am not making a complaint about the Neurology department their staff were very pleasant and efficient. However

I am disappointed with the length of time and lack of urgency regarding advising of test results. Whilst I fully understand that there are enormous demands upon all the NHS departments I do not consider it to be good practice to promise a waiting period of 7- 10 days and then still be waiting for results 24 days later. Surely , it would be good practice to stick to the time period that is given? I can appreciate that circumstances may mean an additional two or three days not three times longer.

I want to know why, in a caring profession, no one seems to take into account the anxiety that these waiting periods can cause.

This is really not acceptable. I am understandably anxious to know that my results are clear. However, it would seem that the service is not able to look at the patient as a whole and my experience signifies a lack of care for the general wellbeing of patients, both physically and mentally!

I telephoned 4 days ago and was assured that the GP would receive test results within 2-3 days. I've spoken to the GP today and still nothing. E mails sent have not been acknowledged
