"Very impressed with pain clinic"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

After years of going backwards and forwards to my GP I eventually got referred to the pain clinic last month. From the minute I walked in I was greeted by friendly staff who checked my details then offered me a drink straight away. I was seen quickly and the waiting time was literally minutes before the nurse called me through. I felt like I was finally being listened to, the consultant offered me lots of different choices (I'm having an epidural Wednesday) and a trial with a tens machine. I never felt rushed and the consultant knew all about my history of back problems and my MRI results straight to hand. I then went to another room where a fantastic member of staff went through all my up coming procedures thoroughly and was booked in for the tens trial the next day! Again I was met with overwhelming friendliness. What a wonderful asset to the hospital this department is thank you so very much.

I'm so pleased that a referral to the pain clinic seems to have provided you with an option to support your on-going pain management.

This must be such a relief and I hope the epidural next week and the trial with TENS helps.

I will make sure your comments are shared with the pain management team.

This is a really busy clinic and in high-demand.

The staff will be delighted to know that you felt listened to and that procedures were explained to you.

I really hope that with their support you will find some pain management techniques that work for you long-term.
