"Pregnant and left sitting on the floor"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

Attended a&e with daughter (under 5) gp and local minor refused to see us. I am 6 months pregnant and after 3.5 hours i lost my seat (while asking reception how long it would be before daughter was seen) so was left to sit on the floor in front of the emergency exit door. Eventually seen by doctor who did no examination but suggested calpol and sent us on our way.

I will not attend Chester hospital again.

Dear Madam

Thank you for your message.

We were very sorry to learn of your poor experience in our Emergency Department recently.

Clearly you should not have been left to sit on the floor whilst you waited.

We would like to look into the issues you have raised.

It would be helpful if you could provide us with more information about your visit.

Please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison (PALS) Service on Freephone 0800 195 1241 and then select option 2, or 01244 366 066 between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.

This will enable us to discuss your concerns with the relevant staff and provide you with an explanation.

Yours sincerely

Patient Experience Team
