"Total Knee Replacement Surgery"

About: Fulwood Hall Hospital

I was admitted to Fulwood Hall Hospital as an NHS patient for a total knee replacement operation in February 2016. Three days later I was back home and on the road to recovery. Seven weeks later I am able to walk unaided and driving again.

From the initial consultation with my surgeon, to the pre-op assessment, and finally my admittance for the operation I was treated with the utmost courtesy and kindness,

Needless to say I was worried about the procedure (who wouldn't be) but all my questions were answered fully and I felt calm and relaxed prior to the operation. The procedure itself was done under a local anaesthetic (epidural) and my request to 'have a sleep" was granted and I wakened up in recovery amazed that it was all over.

All the staff at the hospital were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The nurses were there to oversee my pain relief, the physio had me on crutches the following morning and the catering staff provided lovely snacks and meals. I was sent home with plenty of medication and an assurance that should any problems arise there would always be someone at the end of the phone 24/7.

I would not hesitate in recommending this hospital to anyone who is in need of a similar operation. I couldn't have got better treatment in a 5 star hotel. Thank you most sincerely.
