"A&E waiting time"

About: Chorley & South Ribble Hospital

Visited Monday 4th April at 0945 and waiting time was 7/8 hours.

Told there was a backlog from Sunday but there were,at most, 12 patients in waiting room.

Absolutely pathetic management.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I was sorry to hear of the time you spent waiting to be seen in our Emergency Department. You will appreciate that it is difficult to provide detailed information as to the reasons for the delay you encountered last Monday, and, whilst I appreciate it is no consolation to you, it may be helpful to explain that the number of patients waiting in the waiting room is not always an indication of the work that is taking place in the department (given that patients who are admitted in a poorly condition or have suffered a significant accident/injury are admitted straight into the appropriate clinical rooms). However, we would expect staff to regularly check on the condition of the patients in the waiting room and provide updates as to the reasons for the delay and likely waiting times.

If you feel it would be helpful to speak to a member of staff in our Customer Care department, they can be contacted on 01772 522521
