"Cardiac Short Stay/CCU"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

Was diagnosed as needing extensive bypass which meant staying in hospital until transfer to Glenfield leicester.

Staff in CSS were wonderful - the sister, nurses, NCAs, catering and cleaners.

That is until last day on CSS where I had pain on and off during the day.

The nurse in charge of my care that day (Monday 28 March) failed to deal with the pain.

I kept having ecgs which i was told was normal. In the end another nurse moved one of the electrodes which then showed i was having a heart attack.

Someone from the Lincoln Heart Centre told me I was having a heart attack and apologised that they hadn't been informed about me so i was then swiftly moved to CCU.

Here, the staff again were friendly and caring. Was moved to Glenfield the following day.

Response from United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Dear Mr Griffin,

Thank you for your story posted via NHS Choices.

I am sorry to hear that your initial good experience of being a patient on CSS was spoilt by the actions of one nurse. I am looking into who this was & will provide any necessary support & training that may be required.

I am pleased to hear that prior to the 28th you were having a positive experience on CSS & that you also found the staff friendly & caring on CCU.

I hope that you are making a good recovery.
