"My Experience"

About: Glenrothes Hospital Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiology & Coronary Care Unit Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

In November I suffered an MI, from my 1st experience as a patient. I really have to congratulate our NHS for the amazing treatment, from being taken by the Paramedics to the Victoria Hospital & my examination & in the Emergency room to my stay in CCU, I couldn't fault any member of staff each & every one of them were very professional, but most importantly kind & caring.

My next experience was transferring to The Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh which again was super efficient, I was immediately put at ease & every procedure that was planned was explained to me, I had a Stent inserted & traveled home next day. This is not where it ends though, I was contacted by the Cardiac Nurse Vivienne, she visited me in my home, she discussed my ongoing medication treatment & what was planned which I found extremely helpful, I had several visits with Vivienne at Glenrothes Hospital which again proved to be very helpful & was discharged from her care 3 weeks ago with the comforting sentence " don't hesitate to contact me if you have a problem" which again meant so much to me.... again it doesn't end there, I received notification to attend Cardiac Rehab classes which I thoroughly enjoy the staff again are so professional with a very friendly nature.

I know my story probably sounds similar to most you have heard before, but as a retired Nurse I have to congratulate the NHS for the outstanding quality of care I received. Being a Nurse on the receiving end of an illness is a frightening experience as it is for anyone. Thank you to all the department's & highly trained staff that I had the honor to meet & be the recipient of their truly outstanding care.

Dear Perrie,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your kind words with us following your recent experiences at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the hospitals in NHS Fife. I was pleased to hear that you were put at ease by the staff, who were able to explain things as they went along, I can imagine how frightening this could have been for you and your family and pleased read your lovely feedback.

I have passed your kind words to the Cardiology team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and l hope that you are continuing to make a good and full recovery.

Kind regards

Jeannette
