What I liked
Some friendly staff.
What could be improved
An available senior doctor.
Anything else?
On 24/12/09 I was admitted via A & E after falling on ice fracturing my left arm. I was told by a junior doctor I needed an operation and this would take place the next day. I was prepared for surgery twice over the next 2 days and starved with nothing to drink for 18 hours at a time. Finally on 27/12/09 when a consultant was available I was discharged with the advice that the fracture would heal without the need for an operation.I could have spent Xmas at home with my family instead of taking up a costly hospital bed for 3 days.
Needless to say the fracture has not healed on it's own and an operation arranged for 4/2/10 which didn't happen either. The bed was not available on the day! It seem to me that at KGH you either have the bed but not the surgeon or you have the surgeon but not the bed!
I have now sent a formal complaint as I now apparently have to wait up to 28 days for a letter just to tell me when the next operation may take place. I have also contacted my MP.Meantime I have to sit at home in pain with my humerus in bits!
