It was just over a week ago that I thought I had a bad case of Flu, I had a week off sick and I thought In would return to work on Monday 21st of March , however when I woke up ,My wife who is not a big woman threw me in her car and drove like crazy to the Hospital, she realised there was not enough time to wait for an ambulance, she was also told that another half an hour would have been to late, she was also asked weather I had any children and to get them to the hospital fast. For the next two days I lapsed in and out of consciousness . On my waking moments I do remember the same dedicated doctors treated me for hours on end, to these I owe my life
On the second day the Professor in charge of my case came to see me and said they were still conducting tests but I would be transferred to the Marlow wing at Canterbury hospital who specialises in kidney surgery .
I Spent 3 days in Intensive care, I do remember that the first 24 hours there was just Me a Doctor and a nurse and these dear dear people never left my side.
On the third day the Professor returned ,I couldn’t read their expression but they told me they had been dealing with kidney cases for over 20 years and never ever seen someone recover as well as I had and my kidneys were now working at 80% and they had cancelled my transfer to Canterbury and I would continue my treatment in the Oxford Ward at William Harvey Hospital Ashford
One note I have to mention is whilst in Intensive care I was bed ridden and couldn’t leave the bed ,My dedicated nurse took care of my toilet needs and cleaned me up on numerous occasion they did it with compassion , dedication and kept my dignity intact for that I will be eternally grateful
I was finally released from hospital On Saturday Night 26th Just in time to catch the second half of the England game
