"I should like the people of Lancaster ..."

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

I should like the people of Lancaster and surrounding districts to know that the RLI and its staff are a credit to you. I live in the South of England and broke my leg while visiting Arnside. I needed a major operation and spent Christmas week in Ward 35 a long way from home and family. Everyone who helped me; the Paramedics, A&E, Radiographers, Plaster Room, Physiotherapists, the doctor and surgical team and the staff on Ward 35 were efficient, professional and invariably friendly and helpful. The catering was good, the ward was clean and the nurses and support staff were caring, patient and hard working. The doctor and team did a great job on a difficult break and I am now back home and on the road to recovery. Thanks again to you all, you are excellent.

What could be improved

The hospital-issue pyjamas were horrible; sweaty polyester and the 'one-size' too small for many of us.

Thank you for your kind comments, it was very nice to read about the teamwork involved in your care. We will pass your comments onto the staff involved, including your suggestion about the pyjamas.

We place great value in the fact that local people continue to choose our hospitals and we openly encourage patients and visitors to give us their feedback. This will enable us to continually to improve the services we offer and the experience our patients have whilst in our hospitals.
