"Miscarriage and subsequent pregnancy"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Manchester)

Sadly, we had to attend the early pregnancy unit at Sant Mary's last year and found we were having a miscarriage. It was an incredibly traumatic time for my husband and me, obviously, but I felt very well cared for by the staff there. And they weren't just concerned for my physical health, they also spotted how down I was when I went back for a subsequent appointment, and signed me off work for a few days. In hindsight, I really needed that time. I won't forget their kindness.

We're now pregnant again, and thankfully things are progressing much more successfully this time! We had a tiny bleed early on and went to the EPU again and were given an early scan which was a blessing - really helpful to see that everything was ok. My maternity care is now through the hospital as well and I've been impressed so far with the midwives I've met at appointments there (and with the same staff at other community centres). Everyone is really professional and friendly. Hopefully I'll be back on here after baby is born with another good review for the birthing centre!

Thank you for your comments posted on the Patient Opinion website regarding your care in the Early Pregnancy Unit here at Saint Marys. It was very kind of you to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff. It was reassuring to hear that you have felt supported and cared for throughout a very worrying time for you and your husband. I can assure you that we have passed on your thoughts to Mrs Pam Kilcoyne as Lead Nurse for Gynaecology and Mrs Mary Symington Lead Midwife for Antenatal Services and the staff involved. We wish you both well for the future.
