I am a 48 year old profoundly deaf lady. I have been with my GP now for about 7 years. He is a very good doctor.
However, when i recently went to see him about something, before i left i asked him for the out of hours GP phone number so i could send a text message if i needed a GP out of hours. He told me to go to the reception desk to get the number which i did with my lip speaker. I was given 3 numbers to text and not one single number worked.
I have tried everything i can to get a number to text and am getting nowhere. I can not even ring my gp in normal hours because i have no phone. The only thing i have is my mobile phone which is for text messages only so can any one tell me what i am meant to do.
The manager at my GP’s practice says its not their responsibility to sort it out. This has been going on for 6 months. Please advise, thank you.
"How can a deaf lady reach the GP out-of-hours number if it doesn't work with texts?"
