"Out of hours appointment at Liskeard Hospital..."

About: Liskeard Community Hospital

We were visiting Cornwall on a short break and me and my son had the flu when we arrived in Cornwall but decided as it was booked up, my husband would continue to drive us down and we would recuperate there. On the second day my son's flu became increasingly worse and as well as a high temperature and headache, sore throat, he suddenly couldn't walk because of the calf muscle pain he was experiencing and he was crying every time he attempted to walk.

We decided to call 111 as i (his mother) also had a high temperature and was also extremely breathless.

The person at 111 was extremely helpful and decided we should visit Liskeard Hospital because they were concerned.

When we arrived the receptionist was very helpful but after over an hour of sitting in reception shivering (as I had a high temperature), I asked if we could sit in my husband's car outside.

The receptionist tried to help but said the dr should be with us shortly.

When the Dr finally called us in they were extremely rude to me.

They asked in a sarcastic manner if I had had the flu for a month seeing as I was there.

I explained that I was really there for my son as he hadn't been able to walk.

They told me he was not in the system and they couldn't comment and he was probably lost in the system! I couldn't believe it!

I said could they give general advice to me about my ten year old son as he was so frightened and they said no (he was sitting with me in the room) and to call back 111.

I then asked if they could look at my chest and they said i was extremely congested but fine.

I talked to my husband and we decided the best thing was to get my and my son back to bed instead of spending more time chasing.

On my return to Surrey I saw the dr who booked me in for a chest X-ray as they were so worried about me as by that time I coughing up blood.

This doctor could not have been more rude.

The operator at 111 put me and my son in the system so no idea where his booking went to.

We were both ill and made to feel a real nuisance.

Unbelievable!
