"My experience"

About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital

I came to A&E on 20 March with a severe headache that I later found out was a brain haemorrhage. All of the staff on duty from front desk, triage, the doctors, nursing staff and radiologists were all fantastic and really looked after me until I was transferred to the Esau ward late at night. While I was waiting (12hrs before I could have a lumbar puncture) I could hear how efficiently and professionally everyone in the A&E dept was looking after other patients and managing bed space- despite challenging patients. In the Esau ward I was looked after incredibly well by the night staff who monitored my symptoms, pain relief and were wonderful when I was worried and upset. The day staff for 21 March were also fabulous and everyone- nursing staff, orderlies, doctors, medical student and the consultant I saw were great and I felt went out of their way to put me at ease and explain what was happening, and what was going to happen next. I think that the dr who performed my lumbar puncture should be singled out for praise as I was dreading it and they did a great job. The member of staff who brought around the tea and coffee was also just lovely as well. The ward was clean and it was cleaned throughout my stay. Thank you to everyone X X X
