"this hospital is a disgrace."

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

The main issue is ,of course, shortage of staff. You never see the same people for days at a time and need to explain any issues you have all over again. This is after being told it ia all recorded in the file. At least two staff nurses were off hand. I know , because I visited my wife every day for 13 weeks, sat by her bed for hours, and no one even looked into or at the ward for hours some days. The ward assistants were not much use, always asking when their break was, always on the mobiles and commenting with remarks, like, what am I doing here etc. In fact, the two assistants had to sit by two ward doors to watch serious patients, needed of course, but left all other wards with no help.

There was no correllation between staff, doctors nurses, ward sisters etc. I had to chase people up all the time, getting nowhere mostly. The people that clean the wards, supposed to, were a disgrace. I have seen the same bit of floor mopped twice within the hour and the spent most of their time on mobiles in the corridor. I even spoke to on of these cleaners about washing their floor mop out in the same washbasin the nurse staff use.

I did report this directly to the ward sister who said it would be logged. However gave this firm the maintainance contract was very mislead. My wife was put in a chair and it distressed her, so made them promise to return within the hour. No, they did not. I had to push this big chair up and down the corridor myself to distract my wifes distress.

So sorry, but I could write a book on these horrible months my poor wife was in your care, but no doubt, things will just continue, as we are all just number. I am truly ashamed of our NHS.
