"I am a carer and have been for ..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

I am a carer and have been for over 20 years and was disgusted with the lack of care I so at royal blackburn hospital when I was staying over night with a patient, ladies were given medication then staff walked away before ensuring medication had been taken,I had to help the elderly lady find her medication as she had limited movement and had dropped it in her bed,I noticed her bed was wet and told the nurse the reply I got was she will have to wait were busy giving medication out ok but this lady waited 3 hours before being changed and when she was wasnt even assisted to wash,in the same ward another lady was shouting help I again had to go and tell a nurse but nobody came for over an hour and the same lady had a beaker on the end of her bed on the table it was half full when i arrived at 9pm and still on the table at 8am the next morning the lady was unable to get the drink herself, the ward smelt of urine, and staff were very abrupt moaning about not having enough staff yet still having time to stand around laughing and joking, whilst leaving ladies sat in saturated beds a disgrace in my eyes

What could be improved

All areas of personal care and attention and manners

Anything else?

I beleive that no matter what age you are you still have the right to good health care, respect and dignity and I am disgusted with what I so.
