"Day case treatment"

About: Circle Bath

I attended day case dept on Tues Mar 22. As my appointment time was 12.45pm, I was surprised to be told that my procedure would not take place til 3:30pm as there were several patients in front of me.

Upon discussing this the time was rearranged to 2:30 for which I was very gateful. This allowed my niece, who had driven me to the hospital to take me home and still be at work by 5:00pm.

At no time was I made to feel "a nuisance" and was treated with courtesy and respect, but I feel that it should be made clearer in the pre procedure correspondence that the appointment time is merely a check- in time and that one should be prepared to be placed on a list of patients whose procedures may take priority depending on the equipment necessary to perform same.

This experience does not in any way detract from my high opinion of your hospital, but I felt I should point this out, as the situation caused some consternation for us both!

We are glad that we were able to accommodate you and change your theatre time. We do ask all patients to arrive at the start of the theatre list, this allows for the consultant to change the order of the patients if necessary. We will look into our documentation in order to provide the best information to patients ahead of surgery. We value our patient feedback to help us to continue to deliver excellent patient care.
