On Monday I requested a consultation for my Mum with a particular Consultant, this was a very short notice request but we were seen and our request for a pic line was was arranged. Two days later my Mum was fitted with a special line avoiding multiple attempts at cannulation and lots of stress and bruising.
The line was inserted by two extremely competent and compassionate nurses.
New technology was being used which illustrates the forward thinking of the Trust also embracing the extended role of the nurse.
Mum was looked after by a staff nurse in the Headland Unit. Everything was arranged and I place for the insertion of the line including the booking of the chest x-Ray. The staff nurse was lovely, friendly and professional; ensuring my Mum was comfortable understood the procedure and allaying her fears.
Thank you all for looking after my Mum, for going the extra mile for your patients. You should be very proud of your work.
