I thought I would take the time to write a review regarding an accident that I recently had, resulting in a 10 day stay in Macclesfield District General Hospital. These days you only tend to hear negative things regarding the NHS, but with my recent experience, I cannot fault anything from start to finish.
On the 20th of February, I took the kids roller skating, I ended up falling over and breaking my hip. An ambulance was called which arrived very promptly, the paramedics helped me straight away with pain relief, and got me to hospital very quickly. After a short stay in A & E, I was admitted to ward 6 about 10pm, by 9:30am the next day (Sunday) I was in theatre where I had a dynamic hip screw fitted.
I must say that every single member of staff, from the paramedics, surgeons, doctors, nurses, care assistants, physio and rehabilitation teams, porters, cleaners and the people who serve the drinks, were all very kind helpful and professional. Although it was quite clear that the staff could do with a few extra people in some areas, they still dealt with everything in a calm reassuring manner. Another thing that needs pointing out was the quality and variety of the food on offer.
As I work full time, so pay income tax and national insurance, I was pleased to see how well that the funding you get is put to good use. In my opinion, the hospital and all of its staff is a credit to the NHS.
