"Poor accomodation"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I called at Sunderland for a blood test today. The sample was taken in a room so small that the door had to be left open. I was asked to take a seat in the corridor so narrow that anyone who wished to pass had to turn sideways.

Core of my complaint, no privacy and unsafe entrance to the room. I was assured that this was one of the 'better' rooms, I would have had to ask to go to another room if I needed to discuss anything that was regarded as confidential. It was evident that the staff did not regard taking blood samples as a thing that required more than minimal privacy.

Thank you for your feedback and please accept our apologies that you felt your privacy was compromised.

This is clearly an important issue and we will share your comments with the Directorate Manager for the Urology Department who will pick this up with staff in the department.
