I would like to commend the Consultant for their prompt action in getting the patient into the A and E system at Bolton Hospital .
The subsequent treatment there has been excellent and after being diagnosed to have acute supraglottitis she is now making a good recovery.
Could I ask that you look at a procedural issue to improve your excellent practice . This is in no way a criticism of any staff .
We presented ourselves at the clinic at 8.30 as being of the older generation( 75/74yrs) we were reluctant to go straight to hospital . We had hoped to get an emergency appointment but were told that the earliest available was 11.45 as Doctors were in a meeting .
I suggest that when a patient turns up in obvious trouble a simple triage type check by a nurse would be beneficial. In this case the high temperature and heart rate would have set the alarm bells ringing as it did with the Doctor 4hrs later .
This would have prevented additional distress and possible danger.
Thank you
