"Great support and care from GP"

About: Newport Lhb

(as a relative),

My mum has end stage Parkinsons and has been having palliative care at home for the past 2 years. Her GP surgery is brilliant. She is now at the stage where she gets very chesty and has a lot of infections, but they are brilliant about coming out to see her rather than having us ring out of hours staff who won't know her so well and would probably send her to hospital. GP came out this week and said that she loves the way we look after her with Classic FM on in the background, smelly candles, fairy lights, flowers - said she knows how difficult it is at this stage and that we should never worry about calling the surgery for her. It is so great to have this support to keep her at home which is what she wanted. Her GP has been brilliant with her all the way through the disease and has supported me to keep her at home. Couldn't ask for better.
