"Smoking"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Having turned up at A & E at 10pm on a Tuesday evening, firstly we had to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke from people standing in the doorway smoking on what is supposed to be a smoke free site. I find it hard to believe that ambulances are pulling up next to the door and taking sick people through a cloud of filthy toxic smoke ..... disgusting.

We would like to apologise that you had an unpleasant experience and agree people should not have to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke to reach a health establishment. As a Trust we are aware of the issue and from 6th June 2016, the site will be smoke free and smoking will not be permitted anywhere that is Trust property. We already have notices up and these will be increased. We do actively encourage people not to smoke near our buildings and do offer a comprehensive smoking cessation service which will also be subject to further promotion.
