"ED visit"

About: Lister Hospital

Visited ED with my 10yr old son who had been injured playing football. We waited 3 hrs to be seen only to be told we still had 4 more pple ahead of us and we still had at least another 2 1/2 hrs before we could be seen by a doctor. The service was so upsetting for both myself and my son who was in so much pain.

We're really sorry - our A&E services are exceptionally busy, with our doctors and nurses often having to attend to very sick or injured children brought in by emergency ambulance. Sadly this means that those with injuries and illnesses that are not life-threatening sometimes wait for longer than we would like.

We're happy to ask one of the lead nurses to make contact with you to discuss your concerns - to do that, just email us your details to generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net.

For future reference and potentially to avoid such long waits, it may prove helpful to call NHS111 who can advise you about the best palce to go to get the treatment you need - which may, of course, be to our A&E, but equally they may direct you to other services too.
