"Long waiting times"

About: Crosshouse Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was referred 5 months ago to psychology services for a neurological assesment. I called today to see if there was any sign of an appointment date and was told it will probably be another 12 months before she can be seen. My daughter is very young and I feel this service is horrendous. Why is the waiting times so bad in Ayrshire& Arran?

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Debzc,

Thank you for telling us your story, it must be very distressing waiting so long to get the appointment and the assessment for your daughter.

I have established that the waiting time for psychology services for a neurological assessment (for children) is currently about 12 months and with no specific information about your daughter, I don't understand what is happening around this referral. I would like to look into it for you but I will need more information to do so. If you would like to contact my email address is eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk or you can phone me on 01563 826222.

I am really sorry you and your daughter have had to wait so long for this appointment and I do hope you contact me to let me help.

Best wishes,

Eunice
